Classic Blue, the color of the year 2020.

An intense shade of blue is Pantone's bet for the year 2020. The color, which promises to be a trend in fashion and decoration, is described by the brand as "a reassuring presence that instills calm, trust and connection."

Pantone, the company that has the most famous color system in the world, has just announced the color of the year 2020: Classic Blue (which corresponds to the reference 19-4052). The intense shade of blue promises to be successful in the next 365 days. Get ready to see it on fabrics, furniture, paints, clothes, objects, and whatever else creativity allows.

Hue, according to the brand, is a "universal favorite." Pantone describes it as "a reassuring presence that instills calm, trust, and connection. Associated with another day's return, this universal favorite is comfortably welcomed," said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Institute.

While the color of 2019, Living Coral, was an "animation and life-affirmation," the nuance of 2020 "brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge," according to the company.

To reach out to the definition of the color of the year, the Pantone Institute's color experts search the world for influences. It can include the entertainment and film industry in production, itinerant art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as unique lifestyles and socio-economic conditions. Influences can also result from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that affect the color.
